No more eagles in Chiefs Kingdom: Brittany Mahomes shares bittersweet news of what happened at family home

The Kansas City Chiefs may spend their football lives trying to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, but Patrick Mahomes and his family recently found themselves hosting a very different kind of eagle at home.
For weeks, Brittany Mahomes had been documenting a pair of golden eagles that appeared to settle near the family property, turning the birds into an unexpected social media storyline. Now, that chapter appears to be over.

“But sadly they are gone,” Brittany wrote on Instagram Stories while showing marks the birds had apparently left in the grass. “Think they raised their babies and now their off, they come back for mating season maybe idk.”
The update was lighthearted, but there was also a sense that Brittany had become attached to the unusual guests after watching them return again and again.
Eagles became running joke around Mahomes home
When the birds first began appearing, Brittany wasn’t immediately sure what they were. After looking them up, she identified them as golden eagles and started sharing their visits with followers.
“I’m concerned. Are they trying to take over at this point?” she joked in one earlier update. “I’m a little scared.”
The football connection practically wrote itself. The Chiefs and Eagles have developed one of the NFL’s most recognizable modern rivalries after splitting two recent Super Bowl meetings.
Kansas City defeated Philadelphia in Super Bowl LVII, before the Eagles answered by beating the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Their rivalry continued in the 2025 regular season, when Philadelphia went into Arrowhead Stadium and won 20-17.
That history made the arrival of actual eagles around the Mahomes property especially amusing for NFL fans.

Brittany dealt with birds of prey before
This wasn’t the family’s first memorable encounter with an eagle. Last year, Brittany shared a photo of a bald eagle sitting in a tree near the driveway and joked about putting the bird to work.
“Think I could teach it how to attack on command?” she wrote.
The latest visitors apparently stayed much longer, with Brittany now believing they remained near the property long enough to raise their babies before moving elsewhere. Her attention is also shifting firmly back toward football.
Brittany recently brought Sterling, Bronze and Golden to Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, supporting Patrick Mahomes as he continues his comeback from the serious knee injury that ended his 2025 season.
The Chiefs lost 20-12, but the day was largely about family, with Brittany sharing the children’s reactions to seeing their father back on the field. Now the backyard has become quieter too.
Whether the golden eagles eventually return remains uncertain, although Brittany is already wondering if mating season could bring them back. Until then, there are officially no more Eagles in the Chiefs’ Kingdom.
