Could Keon Coleman’s time in Buffalo already be nearing an end? As training camp enters Week 2, the Bills must consider if Coleman can really impact the future.
An ESPN trade proposal has the Buffalo Bills sending the former second-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick, with Buffalo also including a 2028 sixth-round selection.

ESPN explained why Buffalo could consider moving on from the young receiver.
“Buffalo doesn’t have to trade him, but between his on-field struggles and the negative vibes stemming from ownership’s comments, it certainly could. And the Colts would be a logical candidate to bet on Coleman at a reduced cost.”
The outlet also noted that Indianapolis could use another weapon regardless of Alec Pierce’s future.
“The Colts could use another receiver regardless of Pierce’s status, so taking a chance on Coleman’s upside makes sense.”
Coleman entered the NFL with high expectations but hasn’t developed into the playmaker many envisioned. Despite catching passes from reigning MVP Josh Allen, the former Florida State standout has yet to consistently produce at a top-receiver level.
The Bills also changed the equation this offseason by acquiring DJ Moore, giving Buffalo another proven target and making the wide receiver room even more competitive.
If he can’t carve out a significant role during training camp and the preseason, Buffalo could decide that recouping draft capital is the better long-term move. For the Colts, however, the appeal is obvious. Coleman is still young, possesses intriguing physical tools, and could benefit from a fresh start in a different offensive system.
