Newton police searching for girl, 14, who disappeared from DCF custody

The Newton Police Department is searching for a 14-year-old girl who had been in the custody of the Department of Children and Families custody.

Police are requesting information on Daiyanaliz Diaz, of Chelsea, who had been in DCF custody at Newton Wellesley Hospital before leaving without authorization July 3.

Police describe Diaz as a dark-skinned Hispanic female, 5 foot 3 inches tall, petite build, pulled-back black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, grey shorts and black sneakers. 

Diaz does not have a phone or wallet and frequents downtown Chelsea, police said. 

The NPD is encouraging anyone with information on Diaz to contact the NPD at 617-796-2123 or DCF at 781-641-8500.
