Netflix’s Best Picks Before Month-End: Three Standouts

three Netflix – With May’s competition still rattling the box office, Netflix is offering an easy reset: three very different movies—Tony Scott’s True Romance, Rob Reiner’s And So It Goes, and Jake Kasdan’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle—each ready for a fresh watch before th

When the summer box office opened its “spiritual doors,” it did so quietly—at least compared to the hype. Pedro Pascal’s big-screen move as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu brought in $145 million worldwide in its first three days, but the start landed lower than many predictions.

Part of that may be May’s tougher-than-normal lineup staying power. Horror favorite Obsession, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Antoine Fuqua’s musical biopic Michael kept pulling attention, even as The Mandalorian and Grogu made the leap from small screen to big screen.

Now that The Mandalorian’s movie debut is already in the rearview mirror, it’s a simple moment to switch gears. Here are three films to stream on Netflix in the US—each a different mood, and each worth making time for before the end of the month.

True Romance (1993)

Tony Scott’s True Romance arrives with major punk-pop confidence and a cast that practically dares you not to pay attention. Rotten Tomatoes lists it at 93% and IMDb puts it at 7.9/10.

Christian Slater plays Clarence, described here as an Elvis enthusiast and pop-culture fan, who gets pulled into a wild relationship with Patricia Arquette’s Alabama. Their connection escalates fast—after Clarence and Alabama steal cocaine from her pimp, a cat-and-mouse chase kicks off.

The movie may have missed the major awards season. facing “seriously tough competition. ” but it’s the kind of film that’s aged well. It’s built on vibrant energy and a set of performances that still land years later. Gary Oldman appears as Drexl Spivey, a dreadlocked drug dealer, in a scene-stealing supporting turn.

And So It Goes (2014)

Next up: a film critics didn’t fully embrace, but that viewers keep returning to for its heart—and for the big names at the center of it. Rotten Tomatoes has And So It Goes at 16%, while IMDb scores it at 5.9/10.

This week’s pick is also framed as a memorial gesture. The article notes that in 2025, the world lost many Hollywood legends, naming Diane Keaton and Rob Reiner as two whose loss “cut the deepest.”

Reiner’s movie follows Oren Little (Michael Douglas), who finds solace after the death of his wife—while raising a granddaughter he never knew existed, as the story unfolds around that care and sudden connection.

Keaton and Douglas are described as “marvelous” in a film that is “cruelly underappreciated by critics.” Even if it isn’t the greatest entry in either of their catalogs, the point is that their presence alone makes it worth your time. Sterling Jerins and Annie Parisse are also listed among the cast.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

If you want something lighter and built for families, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is the clear pivot. The franchise is set to return to theaters this Christmas for its next installment, and this movie is the long-awaited legacy sequel that came after over two decades.

The story follows four teenagers who get sucked into the dangerous and magical world of a video game. Rotten Tomatoes lists it at 77%, and IMDb gives it a 6.9/10.

For anyone who loved the 1995 original starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst, this one is positioned as a must-watch.

The cast is led by Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, combining “laugh-out-loud comedy” with “tense adventure” for a family-friendly option. If the first trip back to the jungle works for you, the article also points to 2019’s sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level.
