Netflix’s April 13–19 lineup: 7 picks to stream

Netflix is sliding a big stack of new stuff onto your screen this week—22 new movies, shows, and live events, if you’re counting—and somehow the standout is still one returning title.

It’s “Beef,” and yes, that “Beef” is back.

Season 2 brings the same premise that made the limited series explode in popularity: one small outburst of anger spirals into something far bigger than anyone planned. Season 1’s case—road rage gone wrong—was successful enough that it got turned into an anthology-style format. This time, the roster changes. Instead of Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are stepping in, with Josh as a country club manager whose “charmed life” starts cracking after a fight threatens to blow up his marriage and then gets worse when the situation widens. Misryoum newsroom reporting notes that he and his wife catch one of his employees, Ashley (Cailee Spaeny), and her fiancé, Austin (Charles Melton), fleeing into the woods after witnessing the fight. It’s the kind of setup that makes you brace for consequences… and then wince when the consequences arrive.

And if you’re thinking “okay, but is it still worth it?”—Misryoum editorial desk notes that season 1 won an Emmy for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and with Isaac, Mulligan, Spaeny, and Melton in the mix, season 2 has a decent shot at doing the same kind of damage again. Also, weirdly specific detail: picture the second your phone’s screen lights up in the dark, and you can hear the TV’s low laugh track—then the plot hits you with that road rage spark. Yeah, that’s the vibe.

Next up, don’t sleep on “Roommates.” This one feels like a classic “maybe this becomes a breakout” bet, and Misryoum analysis indicates it could land. “Roommates” is the biggest new original movie hitting Netflix this week, and while it’s not built around a household name, it is built around a familiar one: Sadie Sandler. The coming-of-age comedy leans into the everyday tension of college life—Devon and Celeste start as college roommates with potential friendship energy, then things tilt into passive-aggressive conflict. The “need-to-see” factor is also tied to the production team: it was produced by her father, Adam. If Sadie Sandler is going to become a lead actress, this film basically has to be either genuinely good… or at least reliably funny. Misryoum editorial team stated that with Adam in charge as a co-producer, there’s reason for optimism.

If you want a little variety beyond the big headline titles, the week’s schedule has some strong support. Misryoum newsroom reported “Noah Kahan: Out of Body” (April 13) as a documentary that follows the singer-songwriter during a tour after “Stick Season,” including a return to Vermont. Then “Untold: Jail Blazers” (April 14) goes straight into Portland Trailblazers lore—1977 championship history, plus the infamous “Jail Blazers” era with volatile off-court trouble. For reality fans, “Million Dollar Secret” season 2 drops April 15, with a $1 million box hidden in one of the contestants’ rooms and everyone else scrambling around it—messy betrayals optional, but basically guaranteed. And if you’re in the mood for nature, “A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough” (April 17) traces a first encounter with baby gorilla Pablo and follows how that gorilla became an alpha Silverback.

So yeah: “Beef” is the one most people will queue first, “Roommates” might be the one they surprise themselves by loving, and the rest of the calendar has enough docs and series to keep you from doom-scrolling. Below is the full release schedule of everything new on Netflix over the next seven days—April 13–19, 2026—plus those top picks you’ll probably keep thinking about after the credits roll.
