Netflix Adds Three Movies: Paris Dream, Short Doc, Splash

Three new – Netflix is serving up three very different weekend options: a charming Paris makeover story, a documentary spotlight on Martin Short’s career, and the ’80s romance Splash where a mermaid and a man fall in love.
Netflix’s weekend lineup hits that sweet spot between cozy and fun, with three new movies now streaming that don’t require a big commitment or a heavy mood.
First up is the British charmer **Mrs.. Harris Goes to Paris** (2022).. In 1950s England. **Ada Harris (Lesley Manville)** is a widowed cleaning lady with a modest life and a bigger dream tucked away.. After receiving some unexpected money. she decides to go to Paris and chase her haute couture fantasies. impulsively buying a **Christian Dior dress**.. From there. the story follows the chain of events that unites two lovers. radicalizes the fashion house’s workers to strike for better wages. and opens the door for a late-in-life romance for Ada.. By the time Ada leaves. Paris “won’t be the same. ” and neither will she once she returns to her “ho-hum” Britain.
If you’re in the mood for something a little different, Netflix also brings **Marty, Life Is Short**.. The documentary zeroes in on comedian **Martin Short**. with the stated goal of delivering a spotlight that’s been “long-overdue.” Directed by **Lawrence Kasdan**. it looks back on Short’s rise from the Canadian sketch comedy series **SCTV** to **SNL** and feature films like **Innerspace** and **Father of the Bride**.. The film leans on new interviews with colleagues and friends including **Tom Hanks** and **Catherine O’Hara**. both of whom profess belief that Short is one of the funniest people they know.
And for an ’80s crowd-pleaser, **Splash** (1984) is here to whisk you away.. **Tom Hanks** plays **Allen Bauer**. who was convinced he met a mermaid when he nearly drowned in **Cape Cod** at age eight.. Twenty years later, he’s proven right when he encounters the same mermaid, now grown up.. **Madison (Daryl Hannah)** can walk on land for **six days**. and if she stays longer she’ll remain a human forever.. That’s the ticking clock that turns romance into a problem fast when Allen and Madison fall for each other.. Allen can join her in her underwater lair, but he can “never go back to being a human.”
In this fish-out-of-water romantic comedy. Hannah delivers plenty of funny beats as she learns to live. talk. and walk like a human. while Hanks is solid as the man who still can’t believe his childhood fantasy is real.. **John Candy** also shows up as Allen’s womanizing brother, taking over scenes whenever he appears.
All three are available to stream on Netflix now: **Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris**, **Marty, Life Is Short**, and **Splash**.
