- Jim Strick has been appointed as the new communications director for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA).
- Strick will begin his new role on Sept. 28, working alongside current director Todd Clark until Clark’s retirement in 2027.
- He brings 29 years of experience, including his recent position as communications director for the Neenah Joint School District.
- Strick was recently named the Wisconsin School Communicator of the Year by the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association.
Neenah Joint School District communications director Jim Strick has been named the next communications director for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association.
The state’s governing body for high school sports announced the hiring Aug. 24 and Strick is expected to begin his new job Sept. 28. Strick will work alongside current WIAA communications director Todd Clark until Clark’s retirement, which is set for Jan. 15, 2027.
Strick said he still plans to live in Neenah, which he called a “special place.”
“I feel very grateful for everything the school district and community have done for me over the past 16 years,” he said. “I still plan to live in Neenah and I’ll be at plenty of events around the Fox Valley.
“I’ve always been a huge fan and supporter of high school athletics, so this is a position I’ve coveted for a long time. I feel extremely fortunate and I’m looking forward to promoting the schools and athletes from across the state.”
Strick was awarded the Wisconsin School Communicator of the Year award from the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association. According to the news release from the WIAA, Strick brings 29 years of experience to the WIAA position and has been the communications director at Neenah since 2013. He has also been the communications director for the Fox Valley Association for the past 13 years, including the past two years as the conference’s co-commissioner.
He has been the public address announcer for numerous WIAA state tournament events, including baseball, boys and girls basketball, football, boys and girls volleyball, softball and wrestling.
“[Strick] brings an extensive and well-rounded background as a school communications director, athletic director, conference commissioner and more,” WIAA executive director Stephanie Hauser said in a news release. “Most importantly, Jim understands the value of education-based athletics and shares our membership’s commitment to tell the powerful, positive stories of how high school athletics transform the lives of our student-athletes and strengthen our school communities statewide.”
