NBC Quietly Cancels The Hunting Party After 2 Seasons

NBC cancels – After months of uncertainty, NBC has officially ended “The Hunting Party” following two seasons. The serial killer drama—available on Peacock and previously on Netflix—was shopped for a possible new home, but the cast options have now closed and no third-seaso

For a show that never got to fully exhale, the finish line finally arrived quietly.

“The Hunting Party” is officially over after two seasons.

Created by JJ Bailey, it had been the last 2025–26 broadcast series whose fate was still undecided. NBC initially postponed the decision until after the upfronts, giving executives extra time to judge how the series performed across both linear television and streaming.

Once NBC decided to cancel the show, it did what networks often do when they’re not ready to close the book: it shopped the series around. The timing matters, too—there had been an update just last week suggesting the project might not be done.

That earlier update came through TV insider Matt Mitovich. He said there was still no official word on which streamers or networks were in the running. but the series was being actively explored for a resurrection deal. In his newsletter—via Hidden Remote—Mitovich wrote: “A source close to production assured me this morning that the serial killer drama is ‘definitely exploring’ options for a new home. though it is ‘too early’ to report anything.”.

Then, the reality landed.

Deadline reported that the cast options for “The Hunting Party” officially ended this week, ending the effort and making the cancellation final.

The show’s availability had given it a reason to hope. It had done well on two different streamers: NBC sibling Peacock, where it has the full series including next-day episodes, and Netflix, which had licensed previous seasons in the U.S., adding another revenue stream to NBCUniversal.

After a strong launch on Netflix, viewership was boosted by Peacock, where the series had already been a strong performer. But in the end, neither Peacock nor Netflix opted to pick up the show for a third season.

The cancellation now closes the chapter for a title that had momentum—without landing the one thing it needed most: a new home where “definitely exploring” could turn into a confirmed return.
