A sudden disruption to motor vehicle registration services is affecting transactions across Jamaica, according to Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ).

TAJ said motor vehicle registration-related services are temporarily unavailable at all tax offices islandwide and online through its eServices platform. The disruption, TAJ added, is tied to ongoing issues with the platform used to process these transactions.

In this context, customers are unable to complete a range of registration tasks, including renewal or new motor vehicle registration, vehicle transfers, and the purchase of registration plates.. TAJ also indicated that these interruptions apply whether customers are attempting to transact in person or through eServices.

This matters for drivers who rely on timely paperwork for everyday compliance, since the registration process often connects directly to planned travel, transfers, and vehicle administration.

TAJ clarified that not all vehicle-related payments are impacted. Payments for certificates of fitness and payments for traffic tickets are not affected, and can still be processed through TAJ eServices or at any tax office.

The agency said its technical team and service providers are working to restore full functionality as quickly as possible. TAJ also offered its sincere regret for the inconvenience and asked customers to remain patient while services are normalised.
