Morning Joe Slams Trump SAVE Act as Voter Suppression

Morning Joe – Joe Scarborough and Jonathan Lemire hit back at President Trump after he canceled a last-minute plan to sign a sweeping bipartisan housing bill, insisting Trump’s push for the SAVE America Act is really “voter suppression.”
Joe Scarborough sounded furious on Thursday morning as he looked at what happened just hours earlier: President Trump backed out at the last minute of a sweeping, bipartisan housing bill that had been passed by both parties.
Scarborough, the “Morning Joe” host, called the move “erratic behavior” and framed it as something far darker than a legislative preference. He argued Trump abandoned relief promised to working Americans for his ongoing SAVE Act crusade, then tried to saddle Republicans with an election-year bill.
The housing bill cancellation shocked Democrats and Republicans alike on Wednesday. Trump took to Truth Social to say he would not sign the legislation until Congress passes the SAVE America Act, a Voter ID bill he has been stumping for throughout his second presidential term.
“Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Scarborough seized on the timing. The housing bill. he said. wasn’t just something Republicans promoted—it was also supported by the White House. with messaging that “finally working Americans were going to get relief for the rising cost of housing.” Then. Scarborough said. the president “weirdly at the last second” backed out. leaving Republican senators and House members “deeply disturbed.”.
He didn’t stop there. Scarborough pushed back on the idea that the SAVE America Act is simply about voter identification.
“It has nothing to do with Voter ID. because 45 out of 50 states. according to a recent report. couldn’t even use their driver’s licenses [counted in the Act]. ” Scarborough said. “On top of that. it causes a lot of problems for women who got married and actually have a different name from their name of birth.”.
Then he delivered the accusation that landed hardest with viewers. “You can go on and on. It is a voter repression bill,” Scarborough remarked. “I’ve always said I support Voter ID. About 80% of Americans support Voter ID. But this is a voter suppression bill.”
Jonathan Lemire echoed the same message. connecting the fight over the housing bill to the political stakes ahead of the midterms. “This is not what Republicans are trying to get right here. as they try to find some footing ahead of a midterms that looks really daunting for them. ” Lemire added. “[It’s] not helpful when the president blows up an accomplishment and then tries to stick them with an act that is deeply unpopular.”.

So basically they canceled housing help cause of voter stuff? Makes no sense.
Morning Joe always loud but this time I kinda get it. Trump says voter suppression but then wants SAVE whatever like that’s totally normal. If the bill was bipartisan why would he even pull it at the last second?
Wait, I thought SAVE Act was the housing bill? Like isn’t it about American Security or something? If they’re arguing about voter ID then why is housing involved at all? Sounds like everyone just fighting over the headline and not even the actual bills.
This is why I don’t trust any of them. They both act like they’re saving the people but it’s always games right before an election. Joe Scarborough says ‘erratic’ and Trump says ‘national emergency’… meanwhile rent is still insane. I’m sure the voters are the problem to them, not the policies.
