Monica Barbaro Joins Ocean’s Eleven Prequel at Warner Bros.

Monica Barbaro has closed a deal to join the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel at Warner Bros. Pictures, bringing new momentum to a project Bradley Cooper will write, direct, produce, and star in alongside Margot Robbie. The film is slated for June 25, 2027.

Monica Barbaro is officially lined up for the next chapter of the “Ocean’s Eleven” universe. The Oscar nominee has closed a deal to join the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.

The movie is being built around Bradley Cooper, who will write, direct, produce, and star, with Margot Robbie also set to appear. Cooper and Robbie’s LuckyChap are producing.

The project’s list of executive producers is long and carefully assembled: Josey McNamara. Bronte Payne. Bobby Wilhelm. Jay Roach. Michelle Graham. Lee Isaac Chung. Ashley Jay Sandberg. Gary Ross. and Olivia Milch. Cooper’s screenplay is based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell. with previous drafts written by Carrie Solomon. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

What is already clear is where the prequel fits in the family origin story audiences will recognize. Since “Ocean’s Eleven” hit theaters in 2001, the franchise has grown into a global sensation, spawning three more films and raking in over $1.4 billion at the global box office.

At CinemaCon. Robbie appeared via video to confirm that Cooper will star alongside her in a film where the two will play the parents of Danny Ocean. In the “Ocean’s” trilogy directed by Steven Soderbergh, Danny Ocean was portrayed by George Clooney. Robbie also said the prequel centers on a heist connected to the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.

“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents,” Robbie said. “You’ll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist.”

Barbaro’s addition comes as she continues to build a busy awards-to-screen trajectory. She was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Joan Baez in James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown.” Next up, she stars as Mira Murati in Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial,” which was acquired by Neon.

Barbaro is represented by UTA, Range Media Partners and Meyer & Downs. The film is currently set to release on June 25, 2027, with the news first reported by Deadline.
