Underdogs topple favourites as Round Three draw nears

It was a remarkable and unforgettable weekend of action in the All-Ireland SFC with plenty of shocks across the country. The last two unbeaten records in the 2026 Championship fell as Ulster champions Armagh and Leinster champions Westmeath lost to Louth and Galway respectively. While the Tribesmen were fancied to defeat Mark McHugh’s side, the Wee County were huge underdogs against their neighbours with Sam Mulroy’s last-gasp effort falling through the hands of Ethan Rafferty and into the net. That puts Louth and Galway into

the quarter-finals and they were joined by Cork, who stunned Donegal in Ballybofey on Saturday, and Tyrone after Niall Morgan’s late two-pointer helped them past Mayo in Omagh. The four defeated teams from Round 2A will face the Round 2B winners in round three for the last remaining slots in the quarter-finals. Here’s how Monday’s draw will proceed.
