Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy’s return to the field has been thrown into focus again after police arrested a suspect tied to the shooting that sent the star to the hospital.
Hardy, who will be a junior for the 2026-27 season, was discharged from the hospital on May 12 after being shot in his upper leg. His rehab from surgery is set to be handled with the Tigers’ football program as he works his way back.
Now, new reporting says law enforcement has taken action in the case. Police arrested a 20-year-old man, Rashodrick Harris, for his alleged involvement in Hardy’s shooting, according to ESPN.
Sgt. Macon Davis of the Laurel Police Department said Harris, who is from Wayne County, Mississippi, was taken into custody in Paducah, Kentucky, on Thursday, May 14, and was awaiting extradition. Davis said Harris was the fourth person arrested in connection with the incident.
Harris is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, Davis said, adding that the investigation remains open and more arrests could follow. He also said three other people of interest who had been taken into custody were eventually released with no charges.
The incident at an outdoor concert in Mississippi left Hardy needing surgery after he was shot in the upper leg.. Hardy has been widely regarded as one of the nation’s top running backs since transferring from Louisiana-Monroe to Missouri. where he led the SEC in rushing yards (1. 649) and yards per attempt (6.4) while totaling 16 rushing touchdowns in his first year at the program as a sophomore.
