Mission RCMP ask public to find missing 22-year-old

Mission RCMP is asking for the public’s help finding a missing 22-year-old man. According to a news release from the detachment, Matthew Elijah Balogh was last seen on Friday (May 22) when he walked away from his home. Both family members and police are concerned for his health and wellbeing, per the release. “He did not say where he was going or when he would return, and there are concerns that Matthew may be lost, or hiding out somewhere and at risk,” RCMP said. Balogh

is described as a 5’10 Caucasian man with blonde hair, hazel eyes and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black/navy blue jogging pants, and brown hiking boots. Police say Balogh speaks very little and may appear confused or scared. He walks on his toes due to a previous injury. Those with information are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161, referencing file 26-6537.

  1. Why would he just walk away and not say anything? That’s scary. I don’t get how people can go missing like this without anyone seeing him.

  2. Sounds like maybe he got taken or something, like people out there just snatch folks. But then it says previous injury and walks on his toes… so is that like a “sign” to look for? I’m confused, either way I’ll keep an eye out.

  3. So he walked away May 22 and could be hiding or lost… and he speaks very little? That makes me think he might’ve ended up in the woods or somebody’s garage or something. Also black hoodie and hiking boots is basically everyone now lol but hazel eyes/blonde hair helps I guess. If he’s scared/confused then please don’t approach wrong, just call the RCMP number, file 26-6537. I swear these stories always start with “walked away” and then it’s like 0 updates for days.
