Miley Cyrus accepted her Hollywood Walk of Fame honor on Friday, May 22, joined by Tish Cyrus, Dominic Purcell, Brandi Cyrus, and fiancé Maxx Morando as she delivered a heartfelt speech and a nod to her father’s absence and support from afar.
Miley Cyrus arrived at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony like she owned the night—then backed it up with a moment that sounded a lot more personal than the outfit.
On Friday. May 22. the Hannah Montana alum. 33. took the podium for the ceremony in a daring skin-baring Versace look handpicked from the Versace atelier. The black gown featured an intricate web-like design with sheer cutouts, a halter neckline and a fitted silhouette. She wasn’t standing alone, either. Her mother, Tish Cyrus, stepdad Dominic Purcell, sister Brandi Cyrus and fiancé Maxx Morando were with her as she celebrated.
Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, didn’t attend in person. But he made sure his voice was part of the day—cheering her on through social media.
During her speech, Miley thanked the people who stayed close through her choices and the fears that came with them. “To my family. my future family. my parents. my mom. my friends. my collaborators. thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices that I make but my fears and then facing them with me. Today is something that I’ll never forget, and I’m always going to cherish,” she said. “I love you all so much, thank you.”.
She then made room for her dad, framing his support as both practical and symbolic. “My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer. So, does a star on the Walk of Fame by the way. And it’s not about the force, but it’s about the repetition. What feels so special to me about this Star is that it’s an accumulation of devotion,” Miley said.
The Walk of Fame moment landed within a family story that she has revisited publicly over the past year—one marked by distance. then by rebuilding. Miley is the third eldest of Billy Ray and Tish’s children. Billy Ray, 64, and Tish, 59, were married from 1993 to 2022, and they share Brandi Cyrus, 38, Trace, 37, Braison, 32, and Noah, 26. Billy Ray also has son Christopher, 34, with ex Kristen Luckey.
Before the ceremony, Billy Ray posted about what the day meant to him. On May 9. he wrote via Instagram. “@mileycyrus I am coming in early to clean and shine the sidewalks before the big day. ” adding. “It’s only once in a lifetime. a daddy from Flatwoods. Kentucky. gets to see his little girl … evolve into an actress into a full-fledged rock star ⭐️.” He followed up with another post reflecting on earlier visits. “It’s a long way from Tennessee to Hollywood @mileycyrus!. And you did it girl,” he wrote. “Congratulations on your well-deserved star on the @hwdwalkoffame!. Remember those nights you spoke about when I’d sneak ya out of our hotel and we would go lurk on those dirty sidewalks!!!. And you would point out all the chewing gum because you knew it made me sick!!!!. 🤢 So proud of you 👏🏻 Love ya. ♥️.”.
Yet even with the celebration, the Cyrus family’s personal history has been in the spotlight. Rumors of a feud among family members dominated headlines before Miley addressed them in May 2025.
“I rarely comment on rumors. but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. ” Miley wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. referring to Tish allegedly unfollowing her on social media. “She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms. she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple. coincidental and uninteresting.”.
She also spoke directly about her relationship with Billy Ray—especially after his divorce from Tish. which she previously described as causing a divide. In her Walk of Fame-era remarks, she revealed where they stood now. “My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” she continued. “Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”.

On The New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast. she said. “I think timing is everything.” She added. “Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad. who I completely adore. and now that my dad.
