Miles Johns (15-5) has gone 6-5-0-1 inside the UFC since joining the roster in 2019. He’s currently in the midst of a three-fight losing streak that most recently saw him get submitted by Daniel Marcos, but Johns is determined to get back in the win column with a favorable matchup against a debuting opponent. He comes in the betting favorite standing 5-foot-7 with a 68-inch reach.

Jessie Rosas (8-1) makes his UFC debut following a championship win over Erick Ruano with the UWCM promotion where he’s amassed a 4-0 record. He’s won three-straight fights leading up to this debut at 23 years old and will have a chance to beat a solid veteran in his first appearance. Rosas stands 5-foot-9 with a 68-inch reach.

Why Miles Johns Will Win

Miles Johns had yet another tough outing during his last fight in November 2025 as he made a crucial mistake that ended in Daniel Marcos taking his back and finishing the rear naked choke submission. His previous bout against Jean Matsumoto ended in disappointing ‘split decision’ fashion in a fight Johns could have easily won, so this bout is his golden opportunity to snap this losing streak and get some kind of momentum back on his side.

Johns is very consistent in the way he closes the distance and usually allows opponents to make the first move in throwing their combinations. He’s far more effective as a counter-puncher and he’s proven to have an extremely durable chin that’s capable of carrying him during an all-out brawl. While he’s gotten bested on the feet during his last few fights, don’t expect Johns to be deterred from continually chasing the big shots on the feet and swaying this fight in his direction.

On the ground, Johns is a better wrestler than he’s given credit for, but there’s no denying that he’s been caught in some bad spots in the past. Two of his five losses have come by way of submission, so he’ll certainly have to be wary against a young and fearless grappler like he’s facing in Rosas.

Jessie Rosas fights out of Las Vegas and will make his UFC debut at just 23 years of age. He’s currently ranked as a pro bantamweight, but will make this debut at featherweight standing a solid 5-foot-9 and having a slight advantage over Johns. With four wins by submission under his belt, Rosas is an extremely slick grappler and will be looking to exploit the one part of Johns’ game he’s struggled with in the past.

Rosas had the biggest challenge of his career during the title win over Erick Ruano his last time out, overcoming early adversity and turning the tide in his favor. Ruano was able to put Rosas in a number of bad spots on the ground, including taking his back several times, but Rosas managed to defend effectively and reverse position on most occasions. His athleticism and energy work in his favor, but his ability to stay calm under pressure is what has him primed for this UFC debut.

To be successful here, Rosas won’t be able to lend himself to a brawl on the feet against Johns. His striking isn’t where it needs to be for him to be competitive against Johns in a kickboxing match, so expect Rosas to make great use of the clinch in tying Johns up and hopefully getting this fight to the ground.

This fight is a serious gut-check for Miles Johns as he looks to avoid a fourth-straight loss at the hands of a debuting opponent in Rosas. Rosas has certainly shown his youthful ignorance on a number of occasions leading up to this fight, but his latest five-round championship effort showed great patience and maturity in sticking to his game plan.

Still, Miles Johns is the rightful favorite and will have the upper-hand if he’s able to keep this fight on the feet. He’ll have the higher knockout upside and should be all the more successful if he’s able to effectively stuff the takedowns.

I think Miles Johns bounces back during this fight with his takedown defense being the difference. This may be too big of a step-up in competition for Rosas so soon, but we should quickly see that he’s a promising prospect come Saturday night.
