New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will probably stew over his costly errors in their loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

On Wednesday, he united everyone in asking the same question: What were you thinking?
Maye looked like he forgot to play football in the fourth quarter as they suffered a painful defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, 13-10, at Lumen Field. He threw three interceptions in the final period, none bigger than the one picked by Josh Jobe in the end zone with 21 seconds left to seal the Seahawks’ come-from-behind win.
Maye tried a deep ball to Mack Hollins, which landed straight into the hands of Jobe, sending the home crowd into bedlam.
Mike Tirico and Chris Collinsworth, who called the game for NBC, were shocked by Maye’s risky throw, as pointed out by Awful Announcing.
“A pick! A terrible decision!” exclaimed Tirico.
“I can’t believe that throw. Wow! There are certain things you just can’t do or try when you have field goal range and overtime in your grasp. And that was the play. Off his back foot, fading away, and didn’t get it out of bounds. Ouch!” added Collinsworth.

Tirico noted that Maye’s only game with multiple interceptions last season was against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
The 24-year-old quarterback went 23-of-33 for 174 yards and one touchdown. He added seven carries for 47 yards.
Maye earned the ire of fans on X for his terrible performance.
Coach Mike Vrabel stressed that they cannot buckle when it is winning time, although he did not single out his young signal-caller, who was a runner-up for MVP last season.
Maye will try to dust himself off and lead the Patriots against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.
