Meta soft-launches Pocket, letting users vibe-code minigames

The idea sounds simple—make a minigame without feeling like you’re writing code at all. Meta’s latest effort, a newly spotted app called Pocket, is built around that promise, and it’s already moving through the first stage of availability quietly enough to catch people mid-download.

Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi spotted Pocket and posted about it on X today. The app positions itself as something closer to a “vibe-coding” playground than a traditional development tool. and the listing leans into Meta’s language of quick. prompt-driven creativity. AppFigures, meanwhile, told TechCrunch that Pocket has been available on both iOS and Android since June 29.

Pocket isn’t sitting open to everyone, even if it appears publicly in listings. It’s not available in the US on any of the half dozen phone models associated with users’ Google accounts, and a help page on Meta’s site says, “the Pocket app is not yet available everywhere.”

Meta has not published a public announcement about the launch, including where the app is being trialed. The company has also not offered a comment to confirm what Pocket’s rollout is meant to test next. MISRYOUM reached out for comment and will update if Meta responds.

Pocket’s wording and technical breadcrumbs add to the intrigue. The app listing describes it as “a creative platform for making and sharing gizmos.” Its Play Store shortcode is “com.facebook.gizmo. ” which keeps the connection close to Gizmo. a different Meta-linked app that used AI to create interactive experiences from user prompts earlier this year. TechCrunch suggested that Pocket may be the outcome of Meta hiring the team behind Gizmo.

All of it fits into a bigger pattern: Meta has been pushing generative AI deeper into its services over the past year, from cosmetic tweaks to new standalone experiences. Pocket, for now, is less about big theater and more about speed—get people generating, keep it limited, learn from the results.

As of now, the only thing that’s truly clear is timing and access. Pocket has been live on iOS and Android since June 29, it’s been spotted on social media as a new target for creators, and it remains blocked from at least some US setups while Meta keeps its rollout quiet.

  1. Why can’t I get it in the US? Meta always “testing” stuff until it’s too late. If it’s on the store then it should be for everyone.

  2. This “vibe-coding” is probably just AI pretending. Like you type stuff and it makes a game… that’s still coding, just hiding it. Also the Gizmo shortcode thing is kinda sus, like they’re rebranding the same app.

  3. Meta is doing the whole “not available everywhere” thing again 🙄. Bet it’ll end up being another way to collect data from your phone models and accounts. If people can download it quietly, why is it blocked from me like I did something? I don’t even want minigames, I want them to fix Instagram.
