Melinda French Gates Doubles Funds Raised at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival to $20 Million | Just Jared
Olivia Rodrigo‘s Daisy Chain Fields festival received another massive donation!
The 23-year-old singer and actress announced on stage during the event that Melinda French Gates doubled the previously announced $10 million being donated through the festival, bringing the total to $20 million.
Olivia shared the exciting new update before starting her headlining set at her sold-out festival at Great Park on Saturday (August 29) in Irvine, Calif., where Melinda joined her to celebrate the work and impact of the 10 nonprofit partners who will receive the funds raised by Daisy Chain Fields.
“Daisy Chain Fields is about what can happen when we come together and use our collective power to support one another,” Olivia shared in a statement. “I’m incredibly grateful to Melinda and Pivotal for believing in this mission and making the impact of our first festival twice as powerful. Most of all, I’m so excited about what this means for the incredible organizations we’re supporting and the women, girls and communities they show up for every single day.”
Melinda‘s donation is through Pivotal, which is “a group of organizations she founded to accelerate social progress for women and young people.”
“Olivia Rodrigo is a force,” Melinda said. “What Daisy Chain Fields sets in motion will last far beyond a single night, by opening up opportunity for women and girls around the world and showing a new generation how much their voices matter. I’m so proud to support Olivia’s vision.”
The day before, Olivia was joined by leaders of the 10 nonprofit partners that the festival is benefiting, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, and more.
Daisy Chain Fields featured an all-female lineup of artists, including Olivia, of course, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Rachel Chinouriri, and more, as well as special guests Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Karen O.
Just two days before the event, KATSEYE dropped out due to Megan Skiendiel‘s ankle injury.
