Meghan McCain rips into The View after Vance

Meghan McCain didn’t wait long after J.D. Vance appeared on The View on June 16. Shortly after the episode aired, the former cohost turned to X with a blunt assessment of how the panel handled the moment—starting with what she called their lack of basic broadcast discipline.

“My biggest takeaway from Vance on The View is honestly how s***** and undisciplined the hosts STILL ARE,” McCain wrote, sharpening her criticism as the controversy over the interview kept playing out.

Her complaint wasn’t limited to the flow of questions. She said the cohosts still “get basics facts wrong. ” “flub easy questions. ” and “can’t get through a segment without yelling at each other.” McCain appeared to be zeroing in on a particularly tense stretch at the table involving moderator Whoopi Goldberg and cohost Ana Navarro. During the exchange. Goldberg interrupted Navarro as Navarro tried to ask a follow-up question after Goldberg pushed the show toward a commercial break—leaving visible friction across the set.

Even as McCain hammered the hosts’ performance, she saved praise for the guest. She ended her X post writing. “Vance handled it all very well.” On-screen. Vance—who smiled while Goldberg scolded Navarro—stayed composed through the interview. He even joked at one point. saying his team had warned him that the typically left-leaning panel was secretly filled with MAGA Republicans.

But McCain’s message made clear where her focus landed: the pacing, the interruptions, and the tone she believes the show can’t seem to rein in. In the interview itself, Vance avoided multiple political questions and defended Donald Trump’s latest dubious claims about the economy.

McCain’s latest remarks fit a familiar pattern. She left The View in 2021 after a series of on-air clashes, including a widely discussed fight with Joy Behar. Since then, she’s continued publicly criticizing the show’s direction and lineup.

She has also targeted Alyssa Farah Griffin, who replaced her. McCain questioned whether Griffin represents conservative viewpoints, saying, “The person they replaced me with is a joke. She is in no way representative of conservative women,” on a recent episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast.

McCain added that the experience has been personally difficult. pointing to what she described as the gap between the show’s legacy and what she’s seen since her departure: “It’s been a wildly disappointing experience for me to see what legacy I helped do during the four years there while my dad battled brain cancer and I had not one but two miscarriages while I worked there. ” she said.
