Meghan Markle ‘cosplaying as Jackie Kennedy,’ critic says, as she gardens in $3,350 cashmere sweater set

Meghan Markle‘s summer gardening style was anything but inexpensive as critics roasted the royal for wearing a pricey designer ensemble in a new As Ever promo, Wonderwall.com can report.
The Duchess of Sussex sent subscribers a newsletter titled “Summer in the Garden” that included a photo of herself in a $3,350 sweater set and diamonds amid a bed of flowers.
Meghan wears cashmere to promote summer gardening
Rather than debuting fresh content, Markle recycled a photo from her May 11 As Ever relaunch featuring the Los Angeles native wandering through a manicured garden and sniffing a white flower while clutching a basket brimming with freshly cut blooms.
The close-up crop made the snapshot appear new to many viewers. In the image, Meghan wore two nearly identical long-sleeved light blue cashmere sweaters — the second was draped over her shoulders and tied in front — from Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen‘s luxury clothing brand The Row. The sweaters sell for $1,750 and $1,600, respectively.
The Duchess of Sussex’s white Anine Bing trousers were a comparatively affordable $100.
Dripping in diamonds
Meghan also wore two very expensive pieces of diamond jewelry in the promo.
She donned a Logan Hollowell Fortuna Diamond Tennis Necklace, which sells for $62,950. The former Suits actress also wore her three-carat emerald-cut diamond pinky ring — worth an estimated $65,000 — on her right hand. The whole look is worth nearly $132,000 combined.
Except for the ring, Meghan featured the wardrobe items on her OneOff page in May. OneOff is an AI-powered fashion discovery and shopping platform that helps users identify and purchase clothing worn by celebrities and influencers. Meghan is an investor in the company.
Critic claims Meghan is ‘cosplaying’
Some critics on Reddit weighed in on Meghan’s pricey garden look.
“Because we all grab our diamond necklaces and favorite cashmere sweater before entering the garden and sniffing flowers in 80-degree heat,” one person wrote.
Commented another user, “I know I always wear my diamond choker to go out in the heat and cut flowers in a sweater set. She is so Town & Country.”
Still another Reddit commenter wrote, “For those who actually garden, gardening in the summer is messy, sweaty work. At this time of year, when I’m in my garden, I’m weeding and certainly not wearing cashmere sweaters that I do not own anyway. Her pretentiousness is so annoying.”
Yet another online commenter added, “Cosplaying as Jackie Kennedy has now entered the chat, but she can’t even get that right because Jackie wore pearls.”
Meghan urged her followers to ‘find the beauty in everyday moments’
The accompanying copy was an ode to summer gardens and their connection to her As Ever lifestyle and product brand.
“There is a certain rhythm to summer: The first flowers opening in the morning. Herbs gathered for the table. Fruit ripening in the warmth of the day,” the message began.
“So many of our products in the As Ever collection began with an appreciation for these simple pleasures, what we planted and grew in our backyard, and the joy that has come from sharing them,” it continued.
Meghan returned to themes of “embracing simple pleasures” and “finding joy in ordinary moments,” which have also appeared in her 2025 Netflix cooking and entertaining series, With Love, Meghan, and other As Ever posts.
“This season, we’re bringing fresh ingredients to the table, lingering outdoors a little longer and making sure that we take the time to find the beauty in everyday moments,” the message concluded.
