Medway police are investigating a bicycle crash that killed an 83-year-old man.

Yuk Foo Chan, of West Roxbury, died after being struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bike Tuesday night, police said.

Around 8 p.m., Medway police received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist near Milford and Green Streets, officials said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that around 7:50 p.m. a vehicle traveling eastbound on Milford Street struck Chan and continued to travel eastbound. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, cooperated with responding officers, police said.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found Chan suffering from significant injuries, police said. Medway police provided medical treatment until the Medway Fire Department arrived.

Chan was transported to Milford Regional Medical Center where he later died, police said.

“Mr. Chan has been a local fixture for many years,” the police department said in a Facebook post. “Chief William Kingsbury and the members of the Medway Police Department extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Chan’s loved ones during this difficult time.”

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing by Medway police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
