Miller’s loved ones have been raising money through a GoFundMe campaign to reduce the financial burden tied to multiple surgeries and upcoming rehab, along with medical care, travel, and prosthetic planning. The former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee contributed $5,525.
The campaign’s goal is now $55,000 total, and Schefty—along with Pete Thamel, Jeremy Fowler, Mina Kimes, and others—have also put money toward Miller’s recovery.
On Friday, Miller posted an update on his status via X ahead of what he called a “big one.” He wrote: “Today’s surgery is a big one. To find out if my shoulder can be reconstructed in order to [support] a prosthetic arm. Your continued thoughts and prayers are so appreciated.”
The timeline of the crash goes back to earlier this month. The accident happened around 4 PM in Jasper County. Missouri. on June 17. when officials say Miller’s 2023 Bronco crossed the center line and collided with a semi. Miller was flown to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. where he faced a long list of injuries: a compound fracture to his left femur. a shattered left kneecap. broken ribs. and what was described as a “significant amount” of blood loss.
Miller also said the amputated left arm was “life-saving.”
