Rep. Thomas Massie’s primary loss was a week ago. By Tuesday, he was on a beach in Costa Rica with former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene—posing for a photo that shows Massie, his wife Carolyn Grace Moffa, Greene, and Greene’s fiancé Brian Glenn.

The trip is being framed as a hard landing being handled in soft weather. Massie is vacationing after losing a Republican primary challenge to former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein last Tuesday. after President Donald Trump endorsed Gallrein in what was described as the most expensive House primary ever. Massie’s defeat ended a run in which he had become a thorn in Trump’s side on multiple issues. including the Jeffrey Epstein files and the Iran war.

On Monday, Massie announced he had filed to run again in 2028. He said he wants to keep fundraising while he continues to decide his political future. In the same announcement, Massie vowed to release the names of powerful people who appear in the Epstein files but have not yet been exposed.

Greene, for her part, has not been in Congress since January. She retired mid-term after running afoul of Trump—specifically over the Epstein files—and later, after leaving office, over the Iran war.

This Costa Rica getaway is also happening as Greene’s relationship with the media ecosystem is shifting. Glenn said this month, during a live appearance from the White House, that he is exiting Real America’s Voice. In that moment. Glenn described the move plainly: “This has been really the only life I’ve known. you know. chasing the news. being in front of the camera.” His announcement came just nine days after Trump referenced Greene during a press gaggle in the Oval Office. “You know, you act so good,” the president told Glenn. “I love this guy. He’s a great guy, even though I don’t love his girlfriend too much.”.

The quick pivot from a losing primary to a tropical pause—set against Massie’s vow to pursue names in the Epstein files—leaves the same tension hanging in the air: while politicians step back to regroup. the political fight Massie has tied to those files isn’t going anywhere just because the cameras do.
