UNO Pizzeria & Grill is trying a new approach to attract customers: bottomless pizza.

The Norwood-based chain is offering unlimited pizza and salad for $14.99 as it competes in an increasingly crowded restaurant market.

The deal comes as Uno’s footprint in Massachusetts has steadily shrunk in recent years. In January, the chain closed three locations in Revere, Dedham, and Braintree, which had served the community for decades. The company has faced rising rent, food, and labor costs which contributed to its closures.

When the long-standing Dedham location announced its closure after 37 years, people shared their support on Facebook. “One of my first jobs as a teen was cutting the tablecloths for Uno’s at headquarters in West Rox,” one commenter wrote. “Sad to see them close.”

The Revere location reopened just five weeks after being purchased by the general manager.

The casual eatery, which claims to have invented deep-dish pizza at its original Chicago location — known as Pizzeria Uno. The chain now has five locations in the Massachusetts and 36 nationwide.

The chain, which filed for bankruptcy in 2010, has tried a few “pivots” over the years, according The Boston Business Journal — including opening a fast casual Uno Dué Go in Downtown Boston. More recently, Uno’s has moved into value-focused deals. Before its current “bottomless pizza” promotion, which runs through Nov. 13, Uno’s offered a similar “pizza pass” — unlimited pizza for $99 over a 10-week period.

“We’re really trying to lean into the value side of it,” Chris Dellamarggio, Uno’s director of marketing, told The Boston Business Journal. “We know times are tight for folks.”
