Mary Trump Spots ‘Most Alarming’ Part Of Donald Trump’s Bond With Natalie Harp

Mary Trump, President Donald Trump’s niece, called her uncle’s relationship with his aide Natalie Harp “pathetic” ― but said that she was more alarmed that Harp posed a security threat for a “failing old man.”

Trump’s relationship with the much-younger Harp made headlines after a pointed remark from Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) and news that Harp had accompanied Trump on his secret plane switch amid a recent threat to Air Force One.

“I think the Natalie Harp situation is of a piece with Donald’s general decline,” Mary Trump told CNN alum Jim Acosta on his podcast this week. “It makes him look like such a pathetic, frail, needy old man that he has to have a woman young enough to be his granddaughter constantly with him, protecting him, making sure that he sees positive press clippings about him, positive articles, most of which are probably fictional. It’s a very bad look for him.”

The Secret Service reportedly expressed concern about the adoring letters Harp had written the president during the 2024 campaign, and she reportedly balked at going through a full security clearance procedure at first when Trump returned to office.

Harp’s reputed sycophancy prompted the president’s niece, a psychologist, to express worry for both parties.

“He’s in so much trouble, and he is really lashing out and is really desperate to change the narrative, and his ego is being threatened at every turn,” she said. “He needs somebody constantly filling his head with compliments and positive messages — and she fits the bill, I have to say that.”

“It’s extreme. It’s over the top,” she added. “And again, it looks terrible. … Clearly, she’s somebody who needs help.”

But Mary Trump, a persistent critic of her uncle and the author of “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” had bigger concerns.

“What I do care about — besides, again, the fact that it’s just another example of how far gone he is — she presents a very real national security threat to the United States of America, all because the president is a flailing, failing old man whose ego is fragile,” she said. “That’s the most alarming thing about it to me.”
