Mary Trump Questions Cruz’s ‘Masculinity’ Line of Attack

Mary Trump didn’t just answer Sen. Ted Cruz’s latest line of questioning about “masculinity.” She mocked it.

In the latest edition of her Substack newsletter. the clinical psychologist wrote that the country was apparently being asked to treat Cruz as “the nation’s foremost authority on masculinity.” She said she “personally” didn’t care. calling it “an odd qualification for public office” and asking what it would even mean in practice—“Arm wrestle?. Challenge each other to duels?”.

Then came the sharper jab: “Fight in a cage match on the White House lawn?” Trump wrote, nodding to the UFC-fight-card controversy that the president hosted on Sunday for his 80th birthday.

But she saved her most personal criticism for a different kind of “basic requirement.” If the conversation was truly about masculinity, she argued, “one basic requirement would be defending your spouse when another man publicly attacks her.”

Her reference was to her uncle’s campaign-era conduct toward Cruz’s wife, Heidi—specifically Donald Trump’s personal attacks on Heidi during the 2016 presidential election—and Cruz’s later endorsement of his onetime rival.

From there, Mary Trump turned back to Donald Trump himself.

“What do I know?” she wrote, describing herself as a “fierce critic” of the president. “I grew up in a family with Donald Trump, who knows absolutely nothing about being a real man.”

  1. I’m sorry but if people are gonna talk about “masculinity” then it’s basically politics as high school. Mary Trump sounds like she’s just roasting Cruz, not really answering anything about Talarico though.

  2. Wait so Cruz said “masculinity” and Mary Trump is mad because the country shouldn’t ask him about it, but then she brings up Donald Trump defending his wife?? That’s like… two different fights. Also “cage match on the White House lawn?” sounds like she’s mad about the UFC stuff but I don’t even get the connection.

  3. Mary Trump saying he knows “nothing about being a real man” is kinda ironic considering her family drama. I feel like Cruz was just trying to land a jab and now everyone’s acting like it’s a moral issue. And honestly the ‘defending your spouse’ part—wasn’t that about who endorsed who? I saw a clip where Heidi Cruz got dragged and then Cruz did his thing, so now it’s all “masculinity” when really it’s just petty election nonsense.
