Mary Conley: Mike’s Wife Behind Timberwolves’ Leadership

Mike Conley’s basketball reputation for professionalism is matched at home by Mary LaReve Conley, whom he met at Ohio State in 2007, married in July 2014, and shares a family of three children with—plus a fourth on the way.
When Mike Conley suits up, Minnesota’s Timberwolves get a steady, veteran presence. Off the court, the same sense of consistency is echoed in his life with his wife, Mary LaReve Conley—someone who has watched his impact stretch far beyond the hardwood.
Conley, the Minnesota guard, was selected with the fourth pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.. After 12 seasons there, he was traded in 2019 to the Utah Jazz.. In 2023. he moved again—this time to the Timberwolves—where he’s helped the team find success and guide younger talent like Anthony Edwards.
Behind that leadership is Mary, a former college athlete and biology graduate from Ohio State, whose own work and public life have been shaped by family, community, and health advocacy.
They met in 2007, married in July 2014
Mike and Mary met in 2007 while both were students at Ohio State University. Mary says she didn’t know much about basketball then.
“We went out, and that was that. I never even saw one Ohio State basketball game ever,” Mary told Sportish.
That same year, Mike declared for the NBA Draft. They kept their relationship going while Mary finished college, and they didn’t fully come together until after her graduation in 2010.
The couple married in July 2014. Former NBA star Greg Oden served as one of Mike’s groomsmen.
Mary also credits their shared outlook for keeping them grounded. She described their approach to life as one built on character and responsibility: “We always stay true to who we are, which is always to care about others, be there for your team, and put them first.”
She added that hearing fan stories has stayed meaningful. “Hearing the stories constantly from fans about how impactful my husband is to their child or their families or the community” always makes her proud.
There’s also a clear expectation she says she set for the role a spouse would play. “those are also my expectations that I set for who my spouse would be, who the father of my children would be.”
A biology degree, a health mission, and a life in media
Mary was born July 29, 1987, in Kettering, Ohio, to Louis Peluso and Elizabeth Peluso. Her father served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.
In high school, she played field hockey. At Ohio State, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
Her community work has included serving on the Board of Directors for Methodist Healthcare Foundation, focused on enhancing the Sickle Cell Center. It’s now called “The Mike and Mary Conley Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center.”
Mary is also a fashion blogger and social media influencer, with more than 40,000 followers. She previously ran a YouTube channel and a blog from 2012 to 2022 under the name “Living LeReve.”
