Mariners catcher Mitch Garver cashes out $3M Bellevue home

Seattle Mariners backup catcher Mitch Garver sold his Bellevue home for more than $3 million in late May. The sale comes just over a year after he bought the property in February 2024, and it intersects with a stretch of increased playing time tied to Cal Rale

Mitch Garver didn’t even get the full “long-term” version of homeownership in Bellevue. In late May, the Seattle Mariners catcher sold his Lake Hills home for more than $3 million.

The property is at 1028 163rd Avenue S.E. in Bellevue’s Lake Hills neighborhood, sitting on a 7,502-square-foot lot, according to the Zillow listing. Built in 2023, the house spans 4,300 square feet and includes five bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus a two-story living room and a chef’s kitchen.

Zillow’s listing described the home as “thoughtfully designed” and “easy to live in,” pointing to a two-story great room for an “abundant” light-filled feel and a chef’s kitchen featuring top-of-the-line Thermador Wi-Fi-enabled appliances.

Garver’s move from buyer to seller happened fast. In February 2024, he purchased the same Bellevue home for nearly $3.1 million—just months after he signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Mariners following his World Series-winning run with the Texas Rangers.

His roster path has been just as quick. After re-signing as a free agent on a one-year minor league deal. Garver “won the battle” for the backup catcher role in Spring Training. The route to Seattle began long before that: Garver was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. played five seasons in Minnesota. then spent two years with the Texas Rangers before arriving in Seattle. He is in his third season with the club.

The timing of the real-estate transaction lines up with what has also been happening on the field. Through the first half of the season, the Mariners have dealt with injuries, including starting catcher Cal Raleigh, who has been dealing with a right oblique strain since mid-May.

Raleigh’s injury has pushed Garver into more action in recent weeks, but the expectation is that Raleigh will return soon. Raleigh made his first rehab start on Sunday with one of the club’s minor league affiliates, the Everett AquaSox.

For Garver, the off-field story is a clean exit—selling a newer home less than a year and a half after buying—while the on-field work continues to shift with who can stay healthy long enough to play.

  1. So he bought it in Feb 2024 and sold late May… wait like he only lived there for a couple weeks? That’s kinda crazy. Also why does it say Thermador Wi‑Fi?? like the fridge tells on you lol

  2. I don’t get the point of this story—like the Mariners are playing bad, right? And then they’re talking about a backup catcher’s “chef’s kitchen”?? Maybe the house price is why Cal Raleigh got injured, idk. Sounds like a lot of words to say a rich guy got richer.

  3. Wow Bellevue Lake Hills for over $3 mil, built 2023, 5 beds, 4 baths… meanwhile regular people can’t even buy a condo. Also they’re saying he re-signed on a minor league deal then “won the battle” — so he’s basically already planning his next move? Like if Cal Raleigh gets hurt again he gets more playing time and then sells another house? Feels connected even if it’s probably not.
