Maria Heads to Round of 32 vs Tjen

Tatjana Maria will take on Janice Tjen in the Round of 32 at the Nottingham Open on Monday, June 15 at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on grass. Maria is the clear moneyline favorite, while Tjen enters as the underdog.

Monday at the Nottingham Tennis Centre starts with a stark contrast in expectations: Tatjana Maria is set to face Janice Tjen in the Round of 32 of the Nottingham Open.

The match is scheduled for Monday, June 15, with both players competing on grass at the Nottingham Open. Tjen comes in ranked No. 43 in the world, while Maria is No. 117.

Oddsmakers are leaning heavily toward Maria. Using the moneyline as the prediction, Maria is favored at -210 to advance, while Tjen is listed as the underdog at +160. That market pricing translates into an implied chance of 67.7% for Tatjana Maria to win, compared with 38.5% for Janice Tjen.

The numbers keep widening the gap when the season form is broken down. For 2026 match records, Maria is listed at 10–17, while Tjen is 7–15. On sets in 2026, Maria sits at 24–35, and Tjen at 18–31.

Serve and pressure are part of the matchup profile as well. In 2026, Maria averages 4.2 aces per match, while Tjen averages 3.4. Break points tell another story: Maria has 81 break points won in 2026, compared with 53 for Tjen.

With the moneyline suggesting Maria’s path is the easier one. this Round of 32 matchup still carries its own kind of tension—rank and matchup odds do not guarantee anything on grass. Tjen’s underdog price and the set of 2026 stats point to a match where momentum and key points could decide how the evening plays out.

For now, everything lines up for Maria to be the aggressor in the betting market when she steps onto the grass against Tjen in Nottingham on Monday, June 15—Round of 32, at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

  1. Nottingham grass always messes people up though. Maria is ranked 117 but odds say 67%? Idk I feel like Tjen is gonna pull a surprise just bc grass is weird.

  2. -210 to win is crazy but the article also says Maria’s season record is 10–17 which seems bad? Like how is she favored with worse stats? I guess betting sites just like vibes or something.

  3. I don’t get tennis rankings at all, Maria is No. 117 and still the moneyline favorite?? Break points won 81 vs 53 sounds made up, like where are they even getting that. Also it says June 15 Monday but I swear stuff like this always changes, so I’m waiting to see who actually plays. If Tjen is No. 43 then she should be winning easy… unless grass just hates everyone.
