A garda investigation is underway after a man’s body has been found in Co Cork . Emergency services were alerted that a man’s body had been located near Blackrock Castle at approximately 7pm on Friday. Gardaí cordoned off the area, with officers remaining at the scene following the discovery. Irish Coast Guard personnel were called, and they recovered the body with the help of Gardai. The body has subsequently been taken from the scene, and it’s expected that a post-mortem examination will shortly be conducted.
It is understood that f oul play is not suspected in the man’s death. A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí responded to reports of the discovery of the body of an unidentified male at Blackrock, Co. Cork, on the evening of Friday 21st August 2026.” Gardaí are currently attempting to identify the deceased, and it’s understood that investigators do not suspect foul play at this stage, reports Cork Beo .
