Manchester United appoints Michael Carrick on two-year deal

Manchester United confirmed Michael Carrick will become its head coach on a two-year contract after he passed his audition. The appointment makes him the seventh permanent manager since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Manchester United moved quickly once Michael Carrick’s audition wrapped up—handing him a two-year contract and naming him its next permanent head coach.
The club confirmed on Friday that Carrick will take the role after passing his audition for the job “with flying colors.” The decision makes him the seventh permanent manager at Manchester United since the retirement of club icon Alex Ferguson in 2013.
Carrick said the club’s recent efforts have shown what Manchester United stands for—“resilience. ” “togetherness. ” and “a determination to succeed.” He framed the next chapter as a push to win again at the highest level. adding that “this club and our supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honors and we’re never going to stop.”.

Two years?? That feels short already lol.
Wait so he just “passed an audition” like it’s a job interview at school? Idk man I’m not convinced he’s the right guy.
“Flying colors” sounds like marketing fluff. Also seventh manager since Fergie… like maybe the problem is the club keeps changing the coach every time it doesn’t work.
I don’t even remember Carrick doing anything crazy as a manager, but sure let’s give him a two-year deal. Hopefully he brings back that old Ferguson style because the team keeps acting like they forgot how to press. And “resilience togetherness” is basically what every coach says right before they go on a bad run anyway.
