Man killed in road rage shooting in East New York, Brooklyn; manhunt underway

EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) — A manhunt is underway for the gunman who fatally shot a man in Brooklyn late Friday night in what police say stemmed from a road rage incident.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on Crescent Street near Stanley Avenue in East New York. Surveillance cameras from a nearby home captured two drivers in some sort of altercation. Then, gunshots rang out as the car involved swerved around the moped. 27-year-old Gurdeep Singh was left to die in the street.

A neighbor who gave only her first name saw all the commotion.

“The police are investigating. We don’t know who is this guy, but we really feel sorry for him,” Sumaya said, “we really feel sorry for him,” Sumaya said. “All of a sudden there’s a lot of ambulance and police cars, and it was really so scary.”

Police are searching for the driver. People who live nearby are sick of the violence.

A man who goes by Raa says that when there is a problem, it is usually someone coming into the area from elsewhere.

“We play dominoes – no shooting, none of that,” he said.

Neighbors are hoping the shooting is not part of a sad trend.

“It’s our neighborhood, so we’re walking every day here and there, so it’s really scary,” added Sumaya.
