A man was found dead after a stabbing in an apartment in Toronto’s Rexdale neighbourhood, with police responding to reports that a man had been stabbed at about 12 a.m. on Sunday.
Officers were called to an apartment at Albion Road and Kipling Avenue, where Duty Insp. Peter Wallace said the victim was discovered with stab wounds to his neck and chest area. The man, in his early 30s, was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died.
Police arrested a suspect at the scene and said the individual will appear in court at a later date. The homicide unit is investigating. Wallace told reporters, “I must tell you that it appears that the victim and the suspect are known to each other, as such, there’s no threats to public safety.”
The investigation is now focused on the surrounding area: police said officers would be in the Etobicoke area on Sunday, canvassing and speaking with witnesses. Police will not be providing further details on the identity of the victim.

The sequence of steps police described—an arrest at the scene. a homicide-unit investigation. and a public statement that the victim and suspect knew each other—frames the case around both a fast early response and an effort to limit concerns about public safety while witnesses are still being sought.
