Sabrina Carpenter isn’t letting this one fade quietly. The man she accused of repeatedly showing up at her home—and who was arrested after her claims—has now moved to block the next step in her court request for protection.

Carpenter obtained a temporary restraining order earlier this month against William Applegate, but Applegate is asking the court to deny her request for a permanent order prohibiting him from coming near her. The push comes through new legal documents.

In his filings. Applegate argues he didn’t believe Carpenter wanted the restraining order and claims it was fabricated—stating it was “concocted by her team” and “brought against Carpenter’s will by her employed security group and the Los Angeles Police Department in conjunction with her legal team as an artifact of a military government program’s maligned instructions.”.

A hearing has been set for later this month. Carpenter and her team, as reflected in paperwork previously filed, tell a very different story.

Carpenter said Applegate tried to enter her home through the front door on May 23, which led to his arrest. She added that after security questioned him, he tried to pretend he knew her. She also said the police questioning followed the same pattern.

Her petition included a screenshot of security footage she said showed Applegate at her front door.

Carpenter further claimed that after his arrest, Applegate returned 24 hours later and was told to leave. She says he came again the following day, and that police responded.

Carpenter insists Applegate is a “complete stranger” and says she “never met him or communicated with him in any way.”

With Applegate now challenging the restraining order request and a court date scheduled for later this month. the dispute hinges on how the court weighs those competing accounts—Carpenter’s version of repeated attempts to reach her versus Applegate’s contention that the order was brought against her will.
