A met agency map indicates that maximum temperatures in much of Mallorca are currently around the ’95 percentile’, which means that only five out of every 100 days at this time of year have temperatures as high as at present or higher. Based on Thursday’s temperatures, a red zone of between 90 and 95 is shown from the northern area of the Tramuntana across the centre of Mallorca to the southeast. An area in the northeast is also red. This zone has shifted a touch
since then, but there are places where temperatures are only slightly above average. Portopi in Palma is one; a high on Friday of 25.3C. Anyway, and to sum up, it’s hotter than usual. The current outlook, as indicated by weather stations, is for temperatures to remain much the same until Wednesday and then climb on Thursday. If that proves to be the case, it is just possible that maximums could move towards yellow warning level, which is 36C. We’ll see. As for Saturday – sunny,
