Magomedov drops Oleksiejczuk, targets Adesanya next

Magomedov finishes – Abus Magomedov stunned Michal Oleksiejczuk with a counter elbow and a guillotine choke submission at 3:25 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 280, then immediately called for a fight with former champion Israel Adesanya.
Abus Magomedov didn’t just win at UFC Fight Night 280—he ended it in a way that turned the canvas into a final answer.
A perfectly timed counter elbow stunned Michal Oleksiejczuk, and once the fight hit the tipping point, Magomedov pressed the moment. He pounced with strikes, then snatched the neck and locked in a guillotine choke. The squeeze did the rest: Oleksiejczuk went out cold. and the referee stopped it for a technical submission finish at the 3:25 mark of Round 1.
It was the most impressive win of Magomedov’s octagon tenure so far, improving his record to 5-3 in the UFC and to 29-7-1 overall. Oleksiejczuk, meanwhile, fell to 22-10 overall and 10-8 in the UFC.
The finish also snapped a key momentum shift. After suffering a loss in his previous outing, Magomedov bounced back decisively, putting an end to Oleksiejczuk’s three-fight winning streak.
Then, the talk turned—fast—to bigger names. Magomedov made it clear he wants to step into Israel Adesanya’s orbit next, after the performance that just sent Oleksiejczuk to the canvas.
“It was one of our game plans to catch him coming in – it works,” Magomedov said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “I knew he was a tough guy. When I got his neck, I knew he was going to tap or go out.”
Magomedov also pointed to the kind of test he’s asking for moving forward.
“I hope Mick (Maynard) is going to give me that fight. I want to fight with Israel Adesanya. We are almost at the same level. Hopefully I can get that fight after this performance.”

Did he just elbow him and then immediately choke? UFC is wild, I can’t even keep up lol.
So he wants Adesanya now?? I mean Adesanya is basically untouchable right, but if he “gets his neck” then anything can happen I guess. Weird part is they were saying game plan to catch him coming in.
Bisping always sounds so surprised like he didn’t watch the same fight. Also guillotine at 3:25 Round 1 sounds like it was the same timing as another fight I saw? Idk maybe UFC reuses numbers 😂
I don’t get why people keep calling this “momentum shift” like it’s a tv show. If he’s 5-3 now then why are we acting like he’s the next champ already? Also Oleksiejczuk went out cold so maybe it wasn’t even the choke? coulda been the elbow doing all the work.
