Madden 27 promises tush push nod on Thursday

EA Sports will unveil Madden 27 and its latest college football game on Thursday night, with screenshots hinting that the tush push—long associated with the Eagles—will be included. The tease also points to Caleb Williams making his first Madden cover appearan

EA Sports is setting the internet on fire one screenshot at a time. On Thursday night, the company plans to unveil Madden 27 and the latest version of its college football game, and the promo is already dripping with recognizable NFL details.

The post promoting the event includes images from the NFL game that spotlight Fernando Mendoza in a Raiders uniform and a look at Myles Garrett in his new Rams duds. It also features a play pulled from a matchup between the Eagles and Giants—one that has become almost inseparable from Philadelphia’s offense.

That play is the tush push. In the teaser, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is shown preparing to plunge into the line in an attempt at a touchdown, a direct callback to the signature short-yardage look that has spent seasons living at the center of both game strategy and league debate.

The timing is what makes the tease feel loaded. There was an attempt to outlaw the play ahead of the 2025 season. but it never cleared the threshold with team owners. The proposal didn’t garner enough votes to become part of the game’s rules picture. Even with that failure. the Eagles were less effective running the play over the course of the season. and no effort was made to ban it this offseason.

In other words: after the league conversation fizzled out the first time, Madden is moving in the other direction.

Thursday’s reveal isn’t only about a play style, either. The coverage around Madden 27 also points to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams making his first appearance on the cover of a Madden game with the 2027 title.

With the tease already previewing key faces—Mendoza in silver and black, Garrett in Los Angeles colors—and one of the NFL’s most debated goal-line maneuvers, EA Sports appears ready to bring both star power and controversy to Madden 27 when the doors open Thursday night.
