In 2024. she teamed up with Chris Hemsworth for the blockbuster sci-fi prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. a film that has remained a standout performer on HBO Max for more than a year.. In 2025. she continued that momentum by starring opposite Miles Teller (of Top Gun: Maverick fame) in The Gorge. another Apple TV original that also features Sigourney Weaver.
That Apple TV momentum sets the stage for what’s next: Lucky. a new crime thriller series that has been scheduled to premiere this summer on July 15.. The show’s cast also includes Timothy Olyphant. known for The Mandalorian. along with William Fichtner. who has appeared in Prison Break.. With that combination of star power. Mark Stassenko. and Jonathan Tropper. with additional reporting also listing Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas among the series’ showrunner names alongside Jonathan van Tulleken.. Earlier in the year. Apple TV had already shared the show’s first teaser and images back in February. building anticipation ahead of the full rollout.
The plot centers on a reformed criminal played by Taylor-Joy. who has to confront her past and slip back into illicit activity for one final job.. The mission isn’t just about the work itself. either; it’s tied directly to her motivation to secure her freedom and leave her former life behind once and for all.
Lucky has been set at seven episodes. The release plan is front-loaded at the start: Apple TV will drop the first two episodes at once on July 15, and the series is set to wrap on August 19, meaning the complete story will finish in less than a month from its debut.
As for what comes after Season 1, the show’s future beyond that initial run has not been decided yet. Still, the involvement of major names like Taylor-Joy and Olyphant leaves the door open for the kind of continuation streaming platforms often pursue when a series lands successfully with audiences.
