Forecasters can make one guarantee about the weather Friday: The heat and humidity will be on the higher side for another day.
What is less certain is whether we’ll see a repeat of Thursday night’s thunderstorms.
7News meteorologists say Friday’s storm chances sit at 20% to 30%, but they’re not ruling out some stray showers and thunderstorms, especially to the south of D.C.
The most damaging of Thursday’s storms were largely to the north.
“A lot of us did miss out on rain yesterday, (but) still had some wind damage across parts of Frederick County, Maryland, and Montgomery County as well,” 7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans told WTOP.
Most of the D.C. region can plan for a mix of clouds and some sunshine, with temperatures in the mid-80s, and the humidity pushing the heat index closer to 90.
Saturday is expected to be drier, on both the storm and humidity fronts, with highs near 85.
Sunday sees the return of storm chances, and “we start turning up the heat,” 7News First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan said, with temperatures approaching 90 degrees. The highs could then reach into the mid-90s through midweek.
