Love Island UK Pulls Gabriel Garland After Stabbing Link

Casa Amor contestant Gabriel Garland has been removed from Love Island UK after producers learned of his connection to a 2019 stabbing case in London. ITV says he is no longer in the villa and will not be returning, raising fresh questions about how thoroughly

For viewers settling into another Casa Amor storyline, the news landed like a hard cut: producers removed Gabriel Garland from Love Island UK after they became aware of his connection to a 2019 stabbing case in London.

Garland had already entered Casa Amor and filmed scenes before the show’s production team learned about the case. ITV says he has now left the villa and will not be returning.

The connection itself is complicated. Garland reportedly was never charged with a crime, and he was never found to have committed any wrongdoing—details that may explain why the link wasn’t discovered earlier.

That gap has since turned into a spotlight moment for the show’s vetting process. Some viewers have questioned how the case connection wasn’t flagged sooner. ITV, for its part, said its background checks did not uncover the case because Garland was never convicted of any offense.

It’s also the second unexpected departure on Love Island UK this season. Earlier this month, George Knight left the villa for personal reasons.

With Garland’s exit now confirmed. the immediate question for fans is how a contestant can be cleared through checks and still leave the show once producers learn something new—especially after filming has already begun. For now. Love Island UK has moved forward without him. while the storyline ahead will be reshaped by a decision viewers only see once it’s already happened.

  1. How do they not find out before filming??? Like don’t they Google everyone 24/7 on these shows. Seems like a huge vetting fail.

  2. Wait I thought if he wasn’t charged/convicted then it’s nothing, but they still removed him?? Maybe they meant he was questioned or something. Also Love Island UK vetting is sketchy… just sayin.

  3. Love Island UK is wild. First dude leaves for personal reasons, now another one gone after some London stabbing link. I’m not saying he did anything but if it’s in a 2019 case then why would producers only learn after he already filmed?? sounds like they were asleep at the wheel or the paperwork wasn’t “important” until now.
