Louis Partridge didn’t dodge the James Bond question—he just didn’t see it coming.
The 23-year-old actor opened up about the casting chatter while attending the red carpet premiere of his new Netflix movie Enola Holmes 3 on Thursday. June 25. at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Like many young British actors. he’s been pulled into the conversation about who could potentially take over the role of the next James Bond.
That speculation comes with a detail that keeps showing up in the rumor mill: producers are hoping to cast a younger actor than usual for the next installment.
When he was asked by Variety if he’s ever pictured himself getting the role, Partridge responded, “No, no. Not yet at least. But that’s something to keep in mind. I wonder what Variety thinks?”
The reporter then said, “We named you as a top candidate.” Partridge’s reply was immediate: “Wonderful.”
He didn’t claim he had always imagined himself in the 007 conversation. Still, he sounded genuinely pleased to be considered. When asked whether he’d ever pictured himself in the conversation to play 007, Partridge said, “No, no. Not yet at least,” before adding that it’s “wonderful” to be named a candidate.
Between premieres and speculation, the focus for now is Enola Holmes 3. The film is set to land on Netflix on July 1.
