Live updates: Patriots host Eagles in preseason clash at Gillette Stadium

7:55: Andy Borregales nails a 41-yard kick right down the middle of the uprights after the Patriots’ drive stalls at the 23 yard line. Borregales unleashed a heater trying to hit Kyle Williams on a slant on third down. The ball bounced off of his hands. Eagles 7, Patriots 3.

7:52: DeVito shows off his wheels, breaking free for a 37-yard run. He pump-faked a play action pass and had plenty of space to maneuver.

7:47: Shipley scores on a 5-yard run, capping a 13-play, 77-yard drive. 51 of those yards came on rushes by Shipley, who already has ten carries. Eagles 7, Patriots 0

7:41: Eagles say Ja’Quinden Jackson has movement in all of his extremities, a good sign after a scary sight here in Foxborough.

7:36: Dalton hits tight end Darius Cooper on a short throw off of a play-action boot, and Cooper takes it for a 25-yard gain.

7:33: Patriots punt again. They’re having some early issues on the offensive line. Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter sacked DeVito and DeVito took a hard hit on a deep throw on third and 14. Eagles get the ball on their own 23.

7:27: Marcus Bryant will miss the remainder of the game with an ankle injury. Philadelphia’s Ja’Quinden Jackson has been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The Patriots’ offensive line depth has already taken a hit this preseason with Ben Brown and Andrew Rupcich suffering injuries last week. Brown, who is expected to be a key reserve on the interior will be out several weeks. Rupcich was released after the Patirots reached an injury settlement.

Rookie first-rounder Caleb Lome started at left tackle on Saturday after spending the bulk of training camp at right tackle behind Morgan Moses.

7:24: Will Shipley starts Philadelphia’s drive off with an 18-yard run, but Andy Dalton threw three straight incompletions and the Patriots get the ball back after a punt.

7:21: Marcus Bryant leaves the game on the opening drive with an injury after being checked out by Patriots. He was replaced by rookie Dametrious Crownover. Patriots go three-and-out after the big play from Larrison.

7:18: Patriots’ offensive starters: DeVito, Larrison, JaMychal Hasty, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism, Nick DeGennaro, Caleb Lomu, Marcus Bryant, James Hudson, Mehki Butler, and Jacob Rizy.

7:17: Play resumes and the Patriots convert on 2nd-and-20 with a 28-yard catch from Lan Larrison.

7:11: An ambulance has arrived on the field after Philadelphia running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was injured on the opening kickoff. Philadelphia’s entire team gathered around the Jackson as he was loaded onto a stretcher and into the ambulance.

7:05: Patriots win the coin toss and choose to receive the opening kickoff. Lan Larrison and Hasan Haskins are the returners.

7:00: Tommy DeVito gets the start at quarterback once again. Efton Chism, Rhamondre Stevenson, K.J. Britt, Jeremiah Pharms Jr. and Marcus Bryant are out for the coin toss.

FOXBOROUGH – Training camp is in the books, and Patriots players on the roster bubble have two more preseason games left to prove themselves and earn a spot on the team.

Don’t expect to see much of Drake Maye, A.J. Brown and the bulk of the Patriots’ starters Saturday night. They just got through two days of competitive joint practices with Philadelphia.

Saturday night will be a spotlight for rookies and players ranked lower on the depth chart. It will also be a test for kicker Andy Borregales who missed three field-goals during last week’s preseason opener against the Colts.

A few more spots to keep an eye on tonight – running back, tight end, and linebacker.

Jam Miller got the start at running back last week and had a productive preseason debut. Lan Larrison got just one carry, but finished second on the team in catches with six. The Patriots also brought in some competitive for that third running back spot, signing JaMychal Hasty and Hasan Haskins.

Eli Raridon has been a training camp standout, but he’s coming off of a quiet preseason debut. Rookie Tanner Arkin got some work in at fullback during last week’s game and continues to be a physical presence in the blocking game.

Namdi Obizaor and Khalil Jacobs both played big roles on Thursday, and K.J. Britt made a standout play punching the ball out from Anthony Richardson and forcing a fumble.
