Lil Poppa’s Family Warns After Toxicology & Autopsy

Nearly three months after Lil Poppa’s death, his mother and sister spoke out on Instagram after toxicology and autopsy reports surfaced—while fans reacted to the methamphetamine finding and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s suicide ruling.

When Lil Poppa died. his family didn’t just lose a son—they lost a presence that had been woven into daily life. into fatherhood. into a future they say they still can’t fully accept. Almost three months later. the toxicology and autopsy reports have added another layer to their grief. and the people closest to him are now speaking directly about what they believe led up to it.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in Georgia ruled Lil Poppa’s death a suicide. confirming that he died from a gunshot wound to the head. The ruling came shortly after initial reports about his passing. Now, after the release of the toxicology and autopsy reports, Lil Poppa’s mother, Ms. Lynn. used Instagram earlier this week to address what was found in his system and why her family decided to share it.

Ms. Lynn said the reports confirmed methamphetamine was in Lil Poppa’s system at the time of his death. She believes the drugs played a major role in what happened, especially while he battled depression and anxiety. In her post. she said her family chose to share the information not to shame Lil Poppa. but to help others understand the dangers of substance abuse and mental health struggles.

She also reflected on who he was to her family—“a loving father. son. and person with a good heart”—and argued that. in her view. he would not have wanted to leave behind his child. his family. or the people who cared about him so deeply if he had been in the right state of mind. She wrote that substance abuse can change a person’s thinking, emotions, and decisions in heartbreaking ways. Ms. Lynn asked supporters to remember Lil Poppa for the love. talent. and light he brought into the world. and she urged everyone to keep his child in their prayers as they navigate the pain “day by day.”.

Around the same time, an update from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s report circulated online. The documents described Lil Poppa’s death as a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left side of his head while he was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

Lil Poppa’s message didn’t end with his mother’s post. His little sister. Orieon. also spoke on social media. sharing throwback photos and reflecting on how she believes drugs affected her brother’s mindset before his passing. She said she believes the drugs changed him and contributed to the situation that ended his life.

Orieon wrote that even though “that bullet killed you,” she believes the drugs were behind the outcome. She said. “You wouldn’t have done this if you were in your right state of mind. ” calling that the most painful part. She pointed to what she says was his devotion to his son. Kofi. his relationship with God. and the dreams and ambition she believes he still wanted for the future.

She also described how hard it is to make peace with the idea that the version of Lil Poppa she saw wasn’t the version who died—writing, “I SAW THE REAL YOU, P.” Orieon added, “Because I truly believe, with my whole heart, that if those drugs never entered your life, none of this would’ve happened.”

The posts immediately widened the conversation beyond family grief and into public reaction. Fans shared shock after learning what was found in his system, with some focusing on the evidence and others urging prayer and caution against judgment.

Under reactions connected to The Shade Room Teens. Instagram user @nanii.g wrote. “METHHHHH POPPA WTF.” Instagram user @its.teriahh posted. “nahhh im not fw this. yall should’ve kept that in the family.” Instagram user @whinstarr said. “Very well written. I applaud her for sharing her son’s story to hopefully save someone else’s.”.

Other commenters leaned into questions about substance use and timing. Instagram user @mssheartbrk wrote. “i just want yall to know if you do x pills meth will show up in your system. NOT justifying it at all but i don’t think he was heating spoons up like yall making it seem 🥴.” Instagram user @rareseed_baby pushed back on speculation. writing. “Yall so delusional in the comments. it could be in any kind of pills !. !. and this not the post for all that anyway be fr 🙄.”.

Some supporters urged compassion. Instagram user @streamwithnell wrote. “Instead of judging him as a human being. Lets pray for his family during this difficult time!. 🙏🏾.” Instagram user @lifeofa.mari_ added. “Substance abuse and mental illness go hand in hand 😢 💔 we. as a community. have to do better and get the help we rightfully deserve. Keep resting in heaven Poppa 🙏🏾.” Others said they were still grieving him privately and publicly. Instagram user @theeoriginalprettigyrlb wrote. “I’m still so broken 💔 behind this Poppa I Pray you found peace within 💜 💜 💜.” Instagram user @gorgeous_astt wrote. “Rip poppa we love u regardless 🥺💔depression is so real.”.

Despite the arguments in the comments, Ms. Lynn and Orieon returned to the same core plea: that Lil Poppa’s story—especially what his family believes his struggles looked like—should be treated as a warning rather than a spectacle.

Across the posts, the details from official findings sit heavy beside the people who loved him most. A suicide ruling. A gunshot wound to the head. Methamphetamine in his system at the time of his passing. And in the middle of all of it. a mother asking people to remember the “love. talent. and light” he brought into the world. and a sister insisting that if the drugs had never entered his life. she believes none of this would have happened.

  1. I don’t even know what to think. Like they say suicide ruling but then toxicology just makes it more confusing? If he was a loving father, how does that even happen. Hope they’re telling the truth for other families.

  2. Wait so the autopsy says gunshot to the head and meth was found, but does that mean the gun was involved from someone else? People say “played a major role” but that’s not the same as proven, ya know. Also why the reports take 3 months, seems sketch.

  3. Everybody’s quick to judge “meth” but depression and anxiety is real too. I get what the mom is trying to say about not shaming, but fans will still do it anyway. Honestly I’m just tired of these cases where it’s like, drugs + mental health + a ruling… and then everyone argues like they know him. Didn’t he have a kid though? That part makes me mad/sad.
