Singer-songwriter Oliver Tree, 32, was reportedly killed in a two-helicopter collision on the morning of Sunday, June 14. A same-day report placed him among six fatalities from the crash. Further details about the collision have not been revealed. and an attempt to reach a representative for Tree for comment had not produced additional information.

Tree’s last public glimpse of the journey came Saturday. June 14. when he posted to Instagram: “Gringo’s 24 hours in Brazil.” The video showed him playing soccer. getting a haircut. and cooking meat. captured in Spanish. By Sunday, his social media followers shifted from celebration to condolences, posting tributes in the comments.

Tree’s name is tied to pop hits that spread quickly and lingered—“Life Goes On” and “Miss You”—and he built a large following online, amassing more than 2 million social media followers.

He rose to wider fame in 2016 with the release of his single “When I’m Down.” In a December 2023 episode of the “Happy Endings” podcast. he described his approach to songwriting with a kind of practical optimism. talking about how limited new territory can feel in music—and how he still finds room to experiment. “As an artist, there’s not a lot of new things you can do. Every chord progression has been played [as have] every single lyric [and] rhyming pattern,” Tree said. “It’s, like, there’s only so much that can be done. So for me, the excitement happens in fusion and taking things that don’t fit with another thing.”.

He added, “I’m all about juxtaposition, so you merge things that really shouldn’t go together and find creative ways to blend them.”

On the road recently, Tree had performed in São Paulo on June 6 and was set to play in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 13. The crash report also landed as fans were absorbing the shock of his final days in public—while the broader details of what happened in the air remained undisclosed.

Behind the music and the bold image. Tree also drew attention for his signature look. including a bowl cut and mullet. On the same 2023 podcast episode. he described the mullet with swagger: “[The mullet] is a 360 party all the time. ” he said. “I want to do the bowl cut again, but then cut the top part out.”.
