Liberty host Wings in matchup shaped by absences

Liberty host – The New York Liberty welcome the Dallas Wings for a 3:30 p.m. EDT non-conference game on Sunday, with the Liberty missing Leonie Fiebich, Raquel Carrera, Marine Fauthoux (knee) and Sabrina Ionescu (foot).

Sunday afternoon in New York carries the kind of tension that doesn’t need theatrics—just names on an injury list.

The Dallas Wings will play the New York Liberty in a non-conference matchup at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The Wings enter at 3-3 overall (0-1 in the Western Conference), while the Liberty are 3-2 overall (2-0 in the Eastern Conference).

New York came home strong last season, going 17-5 at home and 27-17 overall. Defensively, the Liberty allowed opponents to score 80.3 points per game and to shoot 42.4% from the field last season.

Dallas’s recent form looks different. Last season, the Wings went 10-34 overall and 4-18 on the road. They also struggled defensively, allowing 88.0 points per game while committing 18.9 fouls last season.

But the storyline heading into Sunday isn’t only the matchups on paper—it’s who isn’t available.

For the Liberty, Leonie Fiebich is out, with the team listing the absence as not injury related. Raquel Carrera is also out, not injury related. Marine Fauthoux is out with a knee injury, and Sabrina Ionescu is out with a foot injury.

Dallas, meanwhile, has no injuries listed.

The numbers paint two different roads into this game: New York’s strong home record and tougher defensive resistance last season. and Dallas’s road difficulties and defensive lapses. With four Liberty players unavailable. the question becomes whether the Wings can turn opportunity into points against a team that has still carried early success into 2026.

  1. If Sabrina Ionescu is out then that’s basically a different team… so Dallas should win?

  2. Not injury related for two of them?? That sounds sus like they just didn’t want to play lol. Still 3-2 vs 3-3 so I guess it’s anybody’s game.

  3. I read the headline wrong and thought it said Liberty host “Wings” like the food place. But anyway if Ionescu’s foot is hurt then yeah Liberty offense might be off. Also Dallas defense giving up 88 last season… that’s rough.

  4. So Liberty are missing 4 players and Dallas has nobody? I’m confused how this is still a matchup and not just a layup. The article keeps saying tension doesn’t need theatrics like… it’s still basically who’s healthier. Wings were bad last year but now they’re 3-3, so maybe they figured it out on the road? Or maybe New York still goes 17-5 at home again and crushes them anyway.
