Lexi Minetree Drops Coolidge Quotes on Tonight Show

Lexi Minetree made her late-night debut on Wednesday night, charming audiences with a Jennifer Coolidge impression and revealing she’s already watched “Legally Blonde” 150 times—plus she weighed in on why the prequel “Elle” feels so perfectly cast.

Lexi Minetree walked onto “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday night with the kind of confidence that doesn’t need an introduction. For her late-night debut, the rising star didn’t just talk about “Elle”—she went straight for the details fans care about.

Minetree showed off her Jennifer Coolidge impression and delivered two iconic quotes, bringing the “Legally Blonde” universe to life in real time. She also shared how deeply she’s studied the original film, saying she’s seen it 150 times already.

“It’s actually spooky. because even when I was a brunette. random people would come up to me and say. ‘You know who you look like?. You look like Reese Witherspoon,” she said. “My whole life, I’ve gotten that I look like her. What was crazy was three months before. I had decided to go blonde — not because of the role. just for a switch-up. I’m really glad I listened to that instinct.”.

Jimmy Fallon added another layer to the throwback. “The beautiful dress you’re wearing right now was the same dress that Reese Witherspoon wore at the ‘Legally Blonde’ premiere 25 years ago,” he noted.

The casting already has a built-in resonance—especially with Reese Witherspoon attached as an executive producer. “Elle” stars June Diane Raphael. Tom Everett Scott. Chandler Kinney. Gabrielle Policano. Jacob Moskovitz and Zac Looker. as well as Jessica Belkin. Logan Shroyer. Amy Pietz. Matt Ober. Chloe Wepper. David Burtka. Brad Harder. Kayla Maisonet. Lisa Yamada and the late James Van Der Beek.

Hello Sunshine produces alongside Amazon MGM Studios. Creator Laura Kittrell (“High School,” “Insecure”) serves as co-showrunner with Caroline Dries, with Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt also serving as executive producers.

The show’s premise is rooted in Elle Woods before the version audiences fell in love with in the 2001 classic. In Season 1, “Elle” follows Elle Woods in high school as the series traces the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman seen in the first “Legally Blonde” film.

“Elle” premieres July 1 on Prime Video, and it has already been renewed for a sophomore season—so if Minetree’s Tonight Show performance was any indication, the wardrobe, the impressions, and the devotion to the original story are only getting started.
