San Francisco Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow, who has been half of an iconic booth with Duane Kuiper for the last four decades in San Francisco, is retiring at the end of this season.
Krukow made the announcement Thursday, Aug. 6 in a statement released by the MLB team.

“I just want to let everyone know that I will be retiring at the end of the season,” the statement read. “I want to take this time to thank you for your incredible support.
“Jennifer and I have been so blessed to be able to stay in the game for as long as we have and it’s really made it impossible to feel sorry for myself that my career is coming to an end.
“We are bracing for the emotional hits we know we are going to feel in the next few weeks. Jennifer and I are wondering if it is even possible to let everyone know how deeply we love and respect our Giants family.”

A 13-time Emmy award winner, Krukow is the Giants’ color analyst on NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Bay Area telecasts, and on KNBR Radio broadcasts. He was named California’s 2023, 2017 and 2015 Sportscaster of the Year.
Krukow’s playing career in the Major Leagues spanned 14 years and three teams: the Chicago Cubs (1976-81), Philadelphia Phillies (1982) and San Francisco Giants (1983-89). He retired after the 1989 season with a 124-117 career record and a 3.90 ERA.

As a broadcaster, Krukow will retire with 35 seasons of experience in the Giants’ television booth and 31 on the radio.
Krukow was one of the finalists for the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award in 2025, 2024 and 2017 for broadcasting excellence. His retirement might only accelerate his campaign for Cooperstown enshrinement.
Nine years ago, Krukow reduced his workload following a diagnosis of inclusion-body myositis, a progressive muscle disorder that limits his mobility. While Giants fans will miss his voice, Krukow will be able to enjoy retirement without the burden of reaching the broadcast booth at Oracle Park.
