Latto Baby Bump Photos Spark Sexualizing Pregnancy Claims

Latto’s latest Instagram carousel is turning into a flashpoint—both for what some viewers see in her maternity photos and for the questions she’s seemingly left unanswered about where she is in her pregnancy timeline.

On the evening of Tuesday, May 19, Latto shared a carousel of photos from what appeared to be a maternity shoot. In the images. Big Mama posed on a fluffy bed while wearing an all-white bra and underwear set decorated with chiffon ruffles. In the caption, she wrote, “5/29🪽,” tying the post to the date of her forthcoming album.

That date and the styling of the shoot didn’t sit well with everyone. In TSR’s comment section, social media users reacted sharply, with some arguing that pregnancy shouldn’t be presented in a sexualized way.

Instagram user @edalysmarzo wrote, “I never understood why sexualize pregnancy 😕.”

Instagram user @prettiestbxtchh_ added, “Somebody said ‘girl we already told you congratulations now gone head now 🙄’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

Instagram user @etxmw said, “Please don’t normalize this behavior.”

Not all commenters were critical, though. Instagram user @youloveshalon responded, “She is absolutely gorgeous!!! Can’t nobody argue about that!!”

Others mixed praise with broader frustration at the conversation itself. Instagram user @jus_tyarsha wrote. “Yall judging her photo shoot for her pregnancy and her embracing her body during pregnancy is weird if you sexualize it you’re the weird ones most women don’t even feel comfortable or attractive during pregnancy.”.

There were also comments that framed the backlash as part of a bigger media problem. Instagram user @grannies_panties wrote, “Media is just promoting propaganda, and sadly this is glorified, we need to stop falling for this nonsense…”

Several commenters pushed back on the idea that the photos were “for” the public, including Instagram user @babyboo_5050, who wrote, “This was not for us lol , this is for your man to see.”

And while the reactions ranged from anger to judgment to defense, the underlying tension was the same: what does it mean to share pregnancy photos, and who gets to decide what’s “acceptable”?

The speculation didn’t stop at the comment section. Social media users have also continued to wonder if Latto may have already given birth.

As The Shade Room previously reported, speculation began earlier this month. Around Mother’s Day, a video was shared via Latto’s foundation, Win Some Give Some’s, Instagram page. The clip showed Latto sitting in a rocking chair while apparent baby coos could be heard in the background.

Then, on Wednesday, Latto returned to her social media to share a clip of her signing album inserts. In that post, lullaby music played in the background—prompting fans to interpret the sound as a signal that her little one must indeed be here.

Instagram user @nessaa.444xo wrote, “Ouuu I see no bump!”

The newest round of discussion is arriving as Latto’s maternity posting streak continues, leaving “when” and “what for” open to interpretation for viewers who are already clearly paying close attention.

At the center of it all is the same question fans keep circling: is this simply a curated pregnancy moment. or is it something more—an update that’s arriving after the fact. For now. Latto’s latest photos and captions have done exactly what social media always does best: start a debate that won’t cool down.

  1. She’s in a bra… that’s kind of the whole thing right there. Why do people act surprised?

  2. I saw the date in the post like 5/29 and now everybody’s guessing if she already had the baby?? Like none of us know what her timeline is. Also pregnancy is beautiful but folks always wanna be weird about it.

  3. Wait so she posted maternity pics and people are saying it’s sexualizing, but isn’t lingerie just… lingerie? I feel like if it’s not for a man then it shouldn’t be a problem? Idk I’m lost. And the Mother’s Day video thing like that’s just editing right? 😂

  4. People will literally complain about anything. If she’s gorgeous and comfortable, cool. But then the comments about “normalize this behavior” is also like… normal to post pics?? Half of y’all didn’t even read the caption, just clocked the bra and ran with it. The whole “did she already give birth?” thing is messy too because you can’t tell from a clip.
