Last-gen Kindle Paperwhite drops to $99.99 through June 14

Amazon’s 2021 Kindle Paperwhite—waterproof, with a 300ppi display and adjustable warm front light—is on sale at Woot for $99.99 (with ads) until June 14 (or while supplies last).
By the time you’re halfway through a beach chapter, the last thing you want to worry about is whether your reader can handle a splash.
That’s the promise behind Amazon’s 2021 Kindle Paperwhite, now discounted through Woot for $99.99—$40 off its original price. The deal runs now through June 14 (or while supplies last), and Woot is listing the device with ads, 16GB of storage, and a 90-day Woot warranty.
What makes this older Paperwhite worth a second look is simple: it’s waterproof. For anyone who reads poolside or brings an e-reader on trips where water is a constant possibility, that single feature can matter more than spec-sheet upgrades.
The 2021 model still leans hard into the details that make long reading sessions easier. It has a sharp 300ppi display and an adjustable warm front light for reading at night without the harsher glare. Battery life is also a selling point. with Amazon’s last-gen Paperwhite typically lasting months on a single charge before you need to top it off via USB-C.
Amazon’s latest entry-level Kindle is different, and the comparison is where this sale really lands. The newest Paperwhite offers slightly better performance, battery life, and a slightly larger seven-inch display. But it also costs $159.99. Unless those upgrades are a must-have. the 2021 Paperwhite remains the cheaper path—especially with its 6.8-inch display. which still feels spacious. particularly compared with the base Kindle.
The choice comes down to what you’re actually reading for. If you mostly buy Kindle books and want comfort in the dark. the 2021 Paperwhite’s warm light and sharp screen do most of the work. If you’re chasing the very latest performance and a bigger display. the newer model has the edge—but it’s a bigger hit to your wallet.
For now, Woot’s $99.99 price turns an older Paperwhite into something closer to an impulse buy—one that’s built for swims, not just sitting quietly by the pool.

So it’s $99.99 with ads… but is it still waterproof or is that like “water resistant” basically lol
Kinda wanna grab one for the beach but I saw something about Woot and then I get paranoid it’s all sketchy returns. 90-day warranty doesn’t sound amazing.
If it’s the 2021 one it’s basically already outdated right? Like I feel like they’ll stop supporting it soon and then you’re stuck with a dead device. Ads too?? no thanks.
I don’t even get why people pay for Kindles when you can just use your phone, but the waterproof thing is tempting ngl. Also “warm front light” sounds like it just makes it yellower… which helps or not? lol
